Southampton Repair Cafe is open on the first Saturday of every month (except January), from 10.30am-1.00pm.
Normally we are at Freemantle United Reformed Church Hall, 257 Shirley Rd SO15 3HS, however as a one-off on April 1st we will be at Shirley Warren Action Church, 117 Warren Avenue, Southampton SO16 6AY as part of a "money saving" event organised by the Environment Centre. The repair cafe will be open between 10.30am and 1pm with all our usual repairers. After that we will be back at Freemantle for the remainder of the year.
Upcoming dates for repair cafe at Freemantle URC: Saturday 6 May, 3 June, 1July, 5 August 2017
Repair cafe aims to keep everyday items away from landfill, save resources, give people the opportunity to learn new skills and build community. Our volunteer repairers will tackle small portable electrical items, portable wooden furniture, items needing glueing, jewellery, and bikes - along with sewing and mending, and advice on computer operation. All this plus a cuppa and a cake! Do come along with your items for repair, or if you are unsure what you need come along and ask. In December we will also have a Christmas bazaar, so come along to buy(or sell) some goodies.
If you would like to offer your skills as a repairer or general helper please don't hesitate - the more the merrier, it will help us expand the repair cafe! It's a very sociable event, there's a great buzz and we even pay expenses and give you free refreshments. We don't just need help on the day - if you could take on a task such as publicity or social media we'd be very pleased to hear from you. Email repaircafe[at]transitionsouthampton.org
